When Someday Becomes Today...

I once heard a motivational speaker say, "There are seven days in the week... and 'someday' isn't one of them." That line came from a compilation of voices—enthusiasts, dreamers, and doers—meant to ignite something in listeners: a call to stop procrastinating and start moving.

It begs the question: What are you waiting for?

Most of us understand that if we want something we've never had, we’ll have to do something we've never done. We carry within us brilliant ideas, visions, and dreams—things that, if brought to life, could align us with our higher purpose and serve others in meaningful ways. Yet too often, we keep dreaming and never move into action.

We tell ourselves we’re waiting for the "right time," the "right resources," or for every piece to magically fall into place before we make our move. We wait until we feel more ready, more qualified, more worthy.

But here’s the truth: that perfect moment may never come. And before we know it, the dream we once held so close starts to fade in the rearview mirror.

The reality is, we may never feel ready. Big leaps require a leap of faith. And more often than not, the path doesn’t fully reveal itself until we start walking it. That first step in faith becomes the catalyst for the next. It’s almost as if the process itself rewards your courage by showing you the way forward.

Think of the law of cause and effect: every action sets something else in motion. The future is shaped by what we do today.

Of course, fear of failure can creep in. What if it doesn’t work? What if I fall flat? But here’s a better question to ask: What if it all turns out better than you ever imagined?

Waiting for everything to be perfectly aligned is often just another form of self-doubt. If there are obstacles, let them be your teachers. As the saying goes, “the obstacle is the way.” The roadblocks aren’t signs you’ve chosen wrong—they’re part of the process. They shape you. They help you discover how to climb higher, dig deeper, and reroute when needed.

So, what if you stopped waiting?

What if you let go of the need to see the whole staircase and simply took the first step? Trust that the path is there. Trust that you’re not alone in walking it.

Your gifts are waiting to find expression. Are you still holding onto them, waiting for everything to feel just right?

Maybe today is the day you stop waiting. Maybe today is the day you move.

Because everything changes when "someday" becomes today.
